Ardalambion doesn't say it) I think there is a difference in usage according to the meaning of nu: When nu is merely static, "sitting or standing under", it takes the nominative: nu luini tellumar "under blue domes" But when nu expresses motion to a position under, it takes the allative: turcildi lantaner nu huinenna "the Numenoreans fell under shadow" This could express certain real differences: vantanye nu yanta "I walked under a bridge" (without leaving its shelter) vantanye nu yantanna "I walked (from elsewhere) under a bridge (and presumably stayed there)" I'm not sure how, then you would express the idea "I walked under a bridge" -- in one side and out the other -- possibly vantanye nu yantallo? This seems odd. /\ WISTR LAG WIGS RAIHTS \/ WRAIQS NU IST <> David Salo <>
