The world-wide list of Tolkien organisations Edition 2 - 21/02/1995 A warm welcome to the 2nd edition of the world-wide list of Tolkien organisations! This publication has been around for just over a year now, and has managed to reach a significant number of people around the world. Its primary intention is to let Tolkien fans know of other Tolkien fan groups/organisations, so that they can find out more about Tolkien and his works. The list does have its foundations firmly routed in the world-wide internet computer network, but is now starting to edge out into the Tolkien society networks and publications. For those readers who can get `on-line', brief information and pointers to other Tolkien related items is given at the end. This list cannot survive without the support of people from around the world who know of the societies listed, informing me of changes/errata/additions. If you've noticed something, please contact me at your earliest convenience! I've listed all of my contact details in the "Further Information" section, so please use whichever method is easiest. Please do not be put off by all the internet details. If you know of a society not on this list, please let me know, or better still, tell the society to get in touch with me directly! I will ensure that any new information is incorporated into the next revision. This issue of the list contains a large number of corrections, and I've reformatted it somewhat, hence the full number increment (from issue 1.5), and it will continue to increment in whole numbers from now on. It also now only contains strongly Tolkien based organisations, I've removed anything unrelated in the interests of space and disk space. I must specifically thank all of those people who have contacted me individually in the last few months: Mikael Ahlstrom; Lars-Terje Lysemose; Marion Kippers; Chris Oakey; Martin Rundkvist; and Lisa Star. Of course, I cannot go without thanking the following for information that's been of immense use in the past: Magne Bergland; Zoltan Farkas; Wayne Hammond; Carl F. Hostetter; John Piller; Martin Titz; and finally William D.B.Loos for his excellent "Frequently Asked Questions" compilation on Tolkien. Rob England's printing services deserve a mention! There are countless others. You know who you are. Please, take a bow. Finally, I must also thank Richard Fraser Overton, the editor of Amon Hen, for wishing to publish this list. Now that all of the preamble is over, the point and structure of the whole thing - The list is organised alphabetically by country, and each organisation that I am aware of is then listed, in no strict ordering. Apart from a few exceptions, each society has three entries: Contact Details; Publication Details; and further information. In a few cases there are reams of each; In the majority there is quite a bit of information; In a few there is little information - I've marked these with an asterix (*). The UK and USA entries have some miscellaneous contacts that may be of interest. I must stress that I cannot guarantee the accuracy of any of the information contained in these pages - I can ill afford to check each and every item. I'm relying on people to inform me of errors that they notice or discover. To the point of overkill, I'll reiterate that I'm relying on people to let me know of additions; corrections; mistakes; "typo's" (especially for language specific characters! I know I've made mistakes and want to correct them!) I love to receive e-mail, but love letters even more, so feel free to contact me. I do reply to everything I receive. So, in eager anticipation of your hobbit mail, I leave you with "my little list". Regards, Richard Leyton. If you belong to a society listed (or not listed), please write to me giving details about the society - What it does etc., or forward this request to someone who can (The society secretary/publicity officer). I welcome any and all feedback about this list. The format, the information, the ftp locations and so forth. Please feel free to write. All correspondence will be read and replied to. I'm thinking of setting up a mailing list for new releases of this list. This would be reserved to the internet community, for purely economic reasons.
