THE TOLKIEN SOCIETY is an international organization, registered in the United Kingdom as a charity, dedicated to the furtherance of interest in the life and works of the late Professor J.R.R. Tolkien, C.B.E. The Society publishes a bulletin AMON HEN which appears about six times a year, and a journal MALLORN once or twice a year. Membership of the Society costs: UK L15.00 p.a.; Surface (outside Europe) L16.00; Europe L17.00; USA/Canada Airmail L19.50; Australia Airmail L20.00. Please make all cheques and money orders payable to "The Tolkien Society" and send them to the membership secretary, Chris Oakey, Flat 5, 357 High Street, Cheltenham, Glos., U.K. GL50 3NT . Overseas subscriptions should be paid by International Money Orders, cheques, or even cash, though members are warned that the last is risky and even illegal in some countries. European members may pay into Giro Account No. 38 583 0300. For all payments not in sterling (but not sterling Eurocheques) please add L4.00 for handling charges. PLEASE PAY IN STERLING IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. Details of family and library subscriptions may also be obtained from the membership secretary. UK members may also assist the Society by covenanting their subscriptions for four years. The membership secretary will supply details on request.
